Official Rules

Competition Guidelines

Review all technical standards, subject track rules, and submission constraints prior to submitting your entry.

Strict 120-Second Limit

Videos must be between 60 and 120 seconds long. Any submission exceeding 2 minutes will be automatically disqualified.

Upload & Hashtag Tagging

Upload your video as Public or Unlisted to YouTube or Vimeo. Include #ApexDiscovery2026 in the title or description for tracking.

Select One Subject Track

Align your project with one core track: CS & AI, Chemistry & Materials, Earth & Space, or Environmental Sustainability.

Original Work & AI Rules

Scripts and explanations must be original. AI coding or visual tools are allowed, but fully AI-generated video or audio cloning is prohibited.

Submission Do's & Don'ts

DO
  • Hook the viewer and state your chosen concept in the first 10 seconds.
  • Use physical props, visual diagrams, or custom animations to demystify complex science.
  • Ensure voiceover audio is clear and background music levels do not drown out the explanation.
  • Include English captions/subtitles if presenting in another language.
DON'T
  • Do not use copyrighted music, video clips, or uncredited graphics without authorization.
  • Do not read directly off a dense text slide or continuous visible script.
  • Do not perform lab demonstrations without proper protective gear or adult supervision.
  • Do not submit group entries—all submissions must represent individual work.
